I experience permanently the following error messages in the router log (log is completly filled with that):
04/11/2013 19:03:49 If(ATM2) PPP-LCP negotiation timeout
04/11/2013 19:03:49 If(4) disconnect LCP.
04/11/2013 19:03:34 If(ATM2) PPP fail : Timeout in LCP negotiation
04/11/2013 19:03:32 If(ATM2) start PPP
04/11/2013 19:01:41 If(ATM2) PPP-LCP negotiation timeout
04/11/2013 19:01:41 If(4) disconnect LCP.
04/11/2013 19:01:23 If(ATM2) PPP fail : Timeout in LCP negotiation
04/11/2013 19:01:21 If(ATM2) start PPP
It's there all the time.
My connection is sometimes unstable and I have a lot of problems with VoIP (interupted, bad quality, disconnected etc.).
Because of problems with my old router I received a new one from KPN 2 months ago and installed it: new router, new splitter, new cables from the package, all lines (ISRA -> splitter -> router) shorter than 50cm.
The router is a Arcadyan ARV7519i with Firmware Version:01.01.219 and is only used for internet; ISDN phone line is separted.
Any idea what to do ?
Technically from what i read is that your modem is trying to talk a server and fails at it. this can result into drops in your internet connection if to many fails occur.
If now and then 1 fails, you won't notice that at all and your internet will work fine.
Either this can be solved by 2 things
You say you got an ISDN line. it may be the cables between the ISRA and the modem (including the NT2 casing) might be at fault or it's the modem itself.
To check that, begin to replace the cables between the isra and the modem by preferable rounded telephone cables. if that doesn't work i believe the people of kpn can replace the rest (modem and nt2 casing).
It seems that your PPP connection (Point-to-Point Protocol) is getting disconnected. In other words, the DSL signal gets disturbed. This is purely to be found within connection between the ISRA and your modem.
Exactly like kallistor is saying. It's probably a cable issue or a problem with the ISDN-splitter or NT1 casing. My advice is to replace the cables and you can even test the connection without all ISDN items. It's possible to connect your modem (on DSL input) straight onto the ISRA. If no problems occur, the signal is fine.
When you aren't able to find the cause, my best advice would be an engineer.
Good luck & best regards,
@Tim & kallistor:
Thank you for your feedback !!
OK, I'll give it a try to exchange the cables even they are short and (most of them) new as well as the splitter is new and came with the modem/router 2 months ago.
One more detail:
The NT1 is connected to a second line: in the past I had two separate ISDN lines (2 contracts, 2 NT1s). Both came over the same ISRA (so all 4 cables in ISRA were used). DSL was bundled to the one ISDN line which I terminated meanwhile, NT1 is removed also. So now 2 cables from ISRA go directly to the remaining NT1 for ISDN telefons (no splitter) and the other 2 cables go from ISRA to the splitter which is connected to the DSL modem (hopefully easy to understand)
Maybe anything wrong with that ?
I tried it: removed splitter between ISRA and modem **bleep** the error mesages stay the same.

What model modem are you using?
